Spark Energy Gives Back: The Spark Your Life 2018 Scholarship
Helping Students Pursue Higher Education
At Spark Energy, we believe that some of the best things in life begin with a simple spark, and that includes the pursuit of higher education. We also believe in the power of giving back to the community we serve, whether that be through our time, monetary donations, or resources.
It is in this spirit that we are excited to announce the launch of our Spark Your Life 2018 Scholarship!
How Does it Work?
One lucky university-bound high school senior will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship to the four-year college or university of their choice. To apply, you must write and submit a well-developed essay of approximately 500 words in response to the following question:
“Describe the thing, idea, action, or person serving as the “spark” that inspires your life. Specifically, address how this “spark” has become a key source of motivation on your journey toward higher education and beyond.”
Requirements
You must be able to provide the following when you apply for this scholarship:
- A high school transcript, including first semester grades for his/her senior year;
- Proof that you maintained an overall academic grade point average of 3.5 or higher throughout all four years of high school; and
- Proof of acceptance into a four-year college or university.
To apply for the scholarship, email scholarship@sparkenergy.com and include your application, all the items listed in the requirements section, and your 500-word essay. The deadline for entries is midnight, August 31, 2018.
The Prize
We will announce the winner of the Spark Your Life scholarship winner on Friday, September 14. If we select you as the winner, you will receive $3,000 in scholarship funds. A check will be forwarded to the financial aid office of the school you plan to attend.
From time and money to academic labor, Spark Energy knows that preparing for college can feel like an all-consuming process. But we also know that education is an invaluable resource that can completely determine your future success, so we want to do all we can to help remove that burden for hard-working students.
We can’t wait to read all the fantastic essays from this year’s entrants. We wish you luck!
