20 Years of Electric and Natural Gas Service
Spark Energy Turns 20!
Spark Energy is celebrating a major milestone. On 22nd February 2019 Spark Energy reached its 20th-anniversary milestone. Few of the electricity and natural gas providers can boast this many years in business let alone the level of success that Spark Energy has achieved.
Celebrating With the Spark Team
Spark employees celebrated this monumental milestone by cutting huge cakes on the 22nd and enjoying the Houston Texan day lunch provided by Spark’s champions group.
Now let’s take a trip down memory lane to look at some of Spark Energy’s greatest accomplishments and what sets the company apart from other providers.
Two Decades of Paving the Way in Deregulated Energy Markets
In 1999 no one could predict how successful Spark Energy would be or how long the company would be around. All we knew is we had the expertise to provide exemplary gas and electric plans and a desire to give customers the type of service that was missing in many marketplaces. We’ve leveraged that passion and expertise to become one of today’s largest and most noteworthy energy providers.
Ever-Expanding Service Area
Spark Energy started in Houston, TX, the American epicenter of energy. It’s still one of our biggest markets, but Spark Energy has expanded far beyond Harris County. The company’s service areas now span the country from New York to California, and we’re still growing! Delaware is the latest state to approve Spark Energy as an electric provider.
1 Million Customers and Counting
More markets mean more opportunities to serve more customers. When a company is new, getting that first customer is monumental. It’s an amazing feeling that can only be rivaled by reaching 1 million customers, which we have!
Spark Energy Hits the Stock Market
Becoming a publicly-traded company in 2014 was a big deal for Spark Energy. We’re on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker SPKE. Since hitting the stock market, Spark Energy has been named the #4 publicly-traded company in Houston and had the 17th highest revenue growth in 2017. That year we broke personal records with more than $798 million in revenue.
#1 Retail Energy Provider
We’re always humbled when Spark Energy is voted the best company in the business. Being named the #1 retail energy provider by the Energy Marketing Conference LLC was a crowning achievement. We’ve also been named one of the top 10 electricity providers in Texas by Consumer Affairs and the 8th top-performing company in the Houston metro.
Growing Selection of Innovative Energy Plans
Spark Energy isn’t a one-trick pony. Just as we’ve expanded into more markets, we’ve also adopted energy innovations along the way. We’ve gone from providing only electricity to being a premier natural gas provider and one of the first companies to offer renewable energy plans in Texas. Customers that are concerned with greener energy solutions enjoy knowing their plan is subsidized by wind, solar, and hydroelectric power.
Over the last two decades, Spark Energy has proven that no matter what’s happening in the energy industry we’re a company residential and commercial customers can count on for years to come.
